Pumpkin Carving

MEET JACK!

Today we carved the pumpkin we brought back from Rodger's Farm.  We carved it into some of the shapes we have been learning about in Math class.  I was so proud of our Pilots - all of them tasted a pumpkin seed today, even some first timers :-)

Planting Seeds

Plant some seeds, watch them grow!

In partnership with Constellation Energy and Real Food Farm, the Pilots planted seeds!  Each Pilot careful counted and planted 3 spinach seeds in each pot.  After planting the seeds, they covered them with dirt and watered them.
Feel free to check out the website http://www.realfoodfarm.org/ for more information on this amazing organization in Baltimore.

Pilot B Visited Rodgers Farm

The Pilots visited Rodgers Farm today.  We saw the corn maze and learned how the farmers design the mazes each year.  There was a lot of interest in the farm animals, especially as we watched a cow sprint to eat a pumpkin!  Picking a perfect pumpkin from the patch and riding on the hayride was a lot of fun too.  Thank you to the Rodgers, a Calvert family, for having us visit.  Such a memorable trip!

Pilot B Pajama Day!

A pancake party in our pajamas?  What could be more more perfect
for P week?  The Pilots had so much fun wearing their PJs to school.  They loved showing off what they sleep in.  We read the story, If You Give A Pig A Pancake, by Laura Numeroff, and enjoyed dipping our homemade pancakes into syrup.

Mystery Reader

? Mystery Reader ?

Today we had our first Mystery Reader come to read in Pilot B.  It was Kiera's Aunt Sarah and she read "Library Lion" about a lion who wandered into a library and misbehaved but ended up being a huge helper in the library.  Our class seemed mesmerized by a different reader and they tried their best to guess who our next Mystery Reader will be.  We will keep it a Mystery :-)

SAFETY CITY

SAFETY CITY

The Pilots visited Safety City. Safety City is a miniature city of traffic signs, signals, and streets.  The trip taught us all about safety.  The Pilot B class was so excited to ride on the school bus to Druid Hill Park.  At Safety City we looked for street signs, learned to "walk in the middle of a cross walk" and "look 4 ways" before crossing the street.  Be sure to ask your child to tell you all about our trip including all the songs that we learned.  I think a favorite memory will be riding on power wheels on the miniature streets of Baltimore!
